What to Know Before You Buy a Snowboard

I don’t know about you girls, but this year I am in the market for a new snowboard. I’ve been truly faithful to my board for the last 5 years, quite the lifetime it seems for a snowboard. Since I’ve had the same board for so long, I really want to make sure my next one is just as good, if not better, and can provide the same enjoyment and reliability of my last. Since it has been such a long time since I have really looked at snowboards, with the intention to buy one for myself, I want to make sure that I’m really getting something that will not only fit my needs on the mountain, but will be the right board for my body and style of riding.

Bye-Bye Trail Maps: Podpro Ski and Snowboard Guides

Oakley's Snow Angel Invitational

Hosted by recent X-Games half pipe gold medallist, Gretchen Bleiler, the inaugural Snow Angel’s Invitational went down at Snowmass, Aspen, last weekend. A first of its kind, the event which was presented by Oakley, was a woman’s-only halfpipe contest, combined with a women’s pampering weekend, photo shoot opportunity for all the riders and environmental education for all those interested.

Before the final event went down on Saturday, the girls had a day to spend shooting, followed by massages, cooking lessons, workshops, etc. In typical Oakley style, nothing was done in moderation, thus all the invited riders were spoiled and pampered beyond what was expected. Gretchen hosted an environmental workshop where she appealed to her fellow riders to make more of an effort to make positive changes to our planet, and went as far to ask riders to use their fame where it …

Coping with the Gaper Factor

So, it’s almost spring break, you have been working your ass off for close on a year just to afford this vacation, and you are so excited that sleep has become literally impossible. Short of constructing a giant calendar worm that you shorten with every passing day in the form of a count down, you have packed your bags several times, had your board waxed and tuned, and made sure you pants and jacket didn’t have any weird cupboard mold growing on them. You couldn’t be more ready for your trip to the mountains and the ski resort of your choice, and you think you have everything under control. You’re going to warm up on the groomed runs on your first day, hit a few tree runs and the park on your second and then work on landing that …
